Spoontaneous

Terms of use

Last updated: October 25, 2026

In short. Spoontaneous helps you plan meals with serious estimates, but it isn’t a medical service. Product labels always override our estimates.

The service

Spoontaneous is an app that suggests menus, recipes, portions and shopping lists based on the data you enter. It is provided by the operator of Spoontaneous, whom you can contact at the address at the bottom of this page.

Not medical advice

Calories, macronutrients and portions are estimates calculated by the software from public data (USDA) or product labels. They don’t replace a doctor, dietitian or nutritionist. If you have an illness, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have or have had an eating disorder, or take medication, ask a professional before changing your diet.

Allergies and intolerances

We filter recipes by the allergens you set, but generic recipes and foods can’t know the composition of every product. Always check the label of what you buy and use.

Assistant recipes and photos

Some recipes and photo recognition use artificial intelligence. The software checks doses, allergens and food safety, but a new recipe hasn’t been tested in a kitchen: use common sense and cook meat, poultry, fish and eggs thoroughly.

Your account

You must be at least 16 and provide accurate information. You are responsible for what you do with your account. You can delete it at any time from the app.

Premium and subscriptions

Some features may require a Premium subscription, bought through the App Store. The price is shown before purchase. The free trial, when available, lasts 7 days; the subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in your Apple account settings, at least 24 hours before renewal. Payments and refunds are handled by Apple under its terms.

Your content

Recipes you write and photos you add remain yours. You only allow us to store and show them to you (and to the person you share your home with, if you choose) to make the app work.

Fair use

Don’t use the app for unlawful purposes, try to bypass its limits or access other people’s data, or bulk-copy recipes and content.

Data sources

Nutrition data: USDA FoodData Central (public domain). Packaged products: Open Food Facts; prices: Open Prices (Open Database License). Dish photos in the catalogue are illustrative images.

Liability

We do our best to keep the app working and the data accurate, but we can’t guarantee it will always be available or error-free. To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for indirect damages arising from the use of estimates. Your consumer rights are not affected.

Governing law

Swiss law applies, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer rights of the country you live in.

Changes and contact

If we change these terms we update the date above. Any questions: ciao@spoontaneous.app.
